Acting has been such a great experience for me. Not only have I gotten to witness the great Ms Figg in action, I’ve also met a lot of really fun people. Acting is not your typical class; you don’t spend your time listening to her lecture and you’ll never find yourself doing what all “great” teachers bestow upon their students: busy work. In these classes, you are active, constantly interacting with your peers, and applying the concepts you learn to actual performances.
The best part, is actually forcing yourself to step out of your comfort zone a little bit. For me, public speaking and big crowds are not my thing. However, I took acting knowing that I might have to get over that-and I did. Not only did I learn a lot of about acting and what goes into a production, but the skills I learned have often carried over into my other classes, especially english, where most public speaking is done. Furthermore,I think it is super beneficial and incredibly fun to take the acting classes that are provided here at Homestead.
