Meet the Artist: Rachel Anderson

Who are you?  What year are you?  What are your interests?
Hi, I’m Rachel Anderson. I’m a junior at Homestead. I play the clarinet and piano. I also enjoy reading

What exactly do you do for Peter and the Starcatcher?
I play the role of Teacher. An ancient knowledgeable mermaid formerly a salmon.

What brought you to join the cast for Peter and the Starcatcher?
I enjoy being involved in the performances. They are always so fun and you meet a lot of really great people. You also learn a lot of really useful life skills- like how to climb ropes.

Do you have any stories from rehearsals?
One time I couldn’t find my script it was missing for a couple of days and I was looking everywhere for it. No one knew where it went. Then one day someone told me that they put it on the top of the fridge. I am too short to see the top of the fridge, so I never saw it.

Peter and the Starcatcher is a prequel to Peter Pan and a comedy about finding your own path and how you fit in the world.  How have you connected to the story?
This is going to be really cliché, but I kind of connected it to my life when I started here at Homestead freshman year. I was new to the district and didn’t know anybody, but then I found friends and joined the drama program.

What do you hope the audience will be thinking about in the car as they drive home after this show?
I hope they will think that it was a fun, exciting, and entertaining show. I also hope that they liked our mermaid costumes. We put a lot of work into them.
