Meet the Artist: Addison Drumm

Who are you?  What year are you?  What are your interests?
I am Addison Drumm, I am a sophomore, and I love art, Latin, reading, music, and nature.

What exactly do you do for Oklahoma!?
I play Mrs. Ike Skidmore, a totally-not-male rancher.

Why did you join Oklahoma!?
I love this show! I have been involved in multiple HHS shows, but this musical really appealed to me. The music is great and the storyline is so dramatic. I love everyone involved in this show and I always look forward to seeing the others– it is the best part of my day even if we are dancing the same dance for hours at a time.

Tell us a story from rehearsal.
A group of people decided to stay after a rehearsal one day to take promo photos, and Figg wanted a cornfield in the background. She dragged her projector around to the back of the stage to project a cornfield behind us, which worked for a bit, but every ten minutes or so the screen would turn off and Figg’s screensaver would appear, resulting in some really worthy poster photos. It would always happen at the worst times, too. Mid-song the cornfield would morph into a collage of theatrical dance photos. It turned into a race to get to the computer first to wake it up.

What is Oklahoma! about and why should people come to see it?
Oklahoma! is a love story taking place during the independence of the state of Oklahoma. You will fall in love with every character on stage and laugh yourself to tears. People should see the show because it keeps you on your toes. It’s also a classic; why wouldn’t you want to see Oklahoma!? The cast, crew, and pit are all so amazing, so it is definitely worth checking out!

What do you hope the audience will think about in the car as they drive home after this show?
I hope they think “Wow, that dancing was pretty great.” I also hope the audience is reminded of the people they hold closest to themselves and feel thankful for them. A lot of characters’ actions in Oklahoma! are out of love, and I hope the audience can relate in certain ways.
