My name is London Boettcher, I am a senior in high school. Outside of theater I play soccer, do Latin, and hang out with my friends and my cat and dog. I wanted to be in One Act because I love theater and One Act is a way that I can not only act in a show, but also learn more about aspects of acting and performing. Although this is only my first year in One Act it has been so much fun and I have grown so much as an actor and a person.
In One Act we have been blocking and rehearsing a play called Everyman. We do a nice blend of acting, dancing, and directing. The play is about a character, Everyman, who represents humanity as a whole. Everyman has to face death and looks for someone to accompany them, after being refused by Friends, Family, and Goods, Everyman finds their Good Deeds. Although Good Deeds wants to go with Everyman, she is too weak to walk, and thus Everyman must journey to heal Good Deeds. Ultimately the play is a wonderful tale about coming to terms with yourself and prioritizing good deeds. I have helped rewrite parts of the script and directed some of the scenes.
I remember in the early stages of blocking, Emme invented a silly-looking roll and sneaked it into aspects of the blocking. It became a game to try to do the “Emme Roll” on stage.
I haven’t been in previous years of one act, but this class is truly special to each one of us. Although shows in the past have had great meanings, I believe that Everyman is one of the most inspiring and influential shows we have put on.
Tell us a random fact about yourself.
I am literally obsessed with Bruno Mars.
