My name is Tatum Lukach and I am in 9th grade. My interests are theater, singing, collecting seashells, and art! In The Pirates of Penzance, I am one of many daughters of the Major General which is apart of the ensemble. I sing and dance in the show, which is so much fun!
What brought you to join the cast, pit, crew for The Pirates of Penzance?
I have always loved to act in shows and sing because it allows me to express myself and honestly just be myself. It’s so much fun and there’s so much more than just acting and after doing the fall show, The Crucible, I knew I wanted to continue doing Homestead theater!
What is one story you can tell from rehearsals, pit practices, or crew sessions?
My favorite story from rehearsals was when the whole cast was singing with Mr. O and we stood up to sing a song all together. After we finished, everyone went to sit down but I didn’t look before I sat, and fell right on my tailbone. I turn around and Addison pulled out my chair and caused me to fall…it hurt so bad but in the end, it was hilarious and kind of helped me and her become closer.
If you know the show, what’s your favorite part? A scene, a song, anything. Why is it your favorite?
My favorite part of the show is during the song “Stay, we must not loose our senses” when the daughters act all normal then the pirates come and “kidnap” us! My partner is Matthew and it’s so much fun to get flipped around then escape and get kidnapped again. At the end of the song, we both look at each other like “ew” and “I hate you” which is really funny to me and it’s har stop keep a straight face.
What do you hope the audience will be thinking about in the car as they drive home after this show?
I hope the audience will be laughing in their car and talking to their friends about what their favorite parts were. I hope they also will be thinking about how talented the leads and ensemble are and impressed with how we put the show together!
