Meet the Artist: Hadyeh Khalaj

Hello! My name is Hadyeh, but my friends call me Hedi. I am a senior and i am an exchange student from Germany. This is my first musical, and I am thrilled to be a part of it! Back in Germany, I have been involved in theater and films, both on stage and behind the camera. My dream is to become a director. I love to sing, act, and dance, especially hip-hop. Each performance feels like a new adventure, and I can’t wait to explore more creative avenues and share my passion with the world.

I’m so glad you decided to tell people about yourself and the current Homestead production.  What exactly do you do for The Pirates of Penzance?
I play one of the daughters in the musical, The Pirates of Penzance.

What brought you to join the cast, pit, crew for The Pirates of Penzance?
I want to try musicals because it’s my first time, and this musical is funny. After playing in “The Crucible,” I need something entertaining.

What is one story you can tell from rehearsals, pit practices, or crew sessions?
It was a funny and shocking moment when one of my high heels just fell off.

If you know the show, what’s your favorite part?  A scene, a song, anything.  Why is it your favorite?
My favorite part is climbing over Rocky Mountain, because we all run and dance, playing with each other. It’s a nice atmosphere.

What do you hope the audience will be thinking about in the car as they drive home after this show?
I hope they get more motivated to come to more shows and support us because it was a lot of work. I hope everyone has their own favorite part.

Anything else you want to talk about?
This is my second show, and hopefully, you’ll see me in the spring play!
