Meet the Artist: Addison Drumm

Who are you?  What year are you?  What are your interests?

I am Addison Drumm, I’m a senior, and I am absolutely thrilled to be a part of Disney’s Frozen here at Homestead. Outside of singing and acting, I love taking photos, getting outdoors, and organizing files in my Google Drive.

I’m so glad you decided to tell people about yourself and the current Homestead production.  What exactly do you do for Disney’s Frozen?

I play Anna in Homestead’s production of Frozen. Playing her involves coming to rehearsals with lots of energy and a positive attitude. She has definitely brought me more joy during the rehearsal journey, despite being physically and emotionally drained at times.

What brought you to join the cast, pit, crew for Frozen?

I love my theater family and I love this show. I grew up watching Frozen on repeat, so having the opportunity to act in this show for my senior year is truly incredible.

What is one story you can tell from rehearsals, pit practices, or crew sessions?

Me and Aidan Bigonia (Hans) were blocking the Hans and Anna betrayal scene in the black box one afternoon with very little direction given from Figg. Just as Anna thinks Hans is going to kiss her and melt her Frozen heart, he doesn’t. So, Aidan goes in for the fake kiss. To begin, he takes his hand to sort of caress my hair, but as he does he immediately recoils, saying “ew!” I panic, thinking my hair was a weird or gross texture or something. Figg starts cackling from behind her desk. Aidan immediately notices my panicked expression and assures me that his ew was about his acting choice, not my hair. It took me a second to believe him, but we all continued laughing at his immediate and almost involuntary response.

If you know the show, what’s your favorite part?  A scene, a song, anything.  Why is it your favorite?

I LOVE the song “Colder by the Minute.” It was very difficult for us to learn, but it is the climax of the plot, and the song reflects that perfectly. The layers and dissonances in the harmonies tickle my brain in a way.

What do you hope the audience will be thinking about in the car as they drive home after this show?

I hope they are thinking about how incredible the show was and I hope it reminds them about how beautiful the story of Frozen is. I hope they love all of the new songs that are not in the movie.

Anything else you want to talk about?

Come see Frozen February 5-8th!!
