Who are you? What year are you? What are your interests?
Hi! I’m Rachel Anderson. I’m a junior and this is my third musical here at Homestead. I enjoy anything that has to do with music. I play the clarinet and piano and also sing. I also enjoy doing things outdoors whether it’s hiking, running, or just reading a book.
What exactly do you do for Oklahoma!?
I’m a featured dancer and ensemble member. I get to participate in some really fun dances. Some of them I get to do some fun tricks in with my best friend Abbi, so I’m super excited. I’m really looking forward to a little solo that I get to sing. Oklahoma is a really fun show to be in and I’m looking forward to performing it soon!
Why did you join Oklahoma!?
I started theatre when I was in 7th grade and I knew it was something I wanted to continue in high school. When I participated in my first musical, Cinderella, I had so much fun and learned so much. I also made some great friends and met some amazing people.
Tell us a story from rehearsal, pit practice, or crew session.
I have a lot of stories, but I think my favorite thing to happen was when Figg put me and Abbi against each other in a fight. Some backstory to that is that Abbi and I are really close, so close that we never leave each others’ sides-like some people (Mr. O) didn’t even know who was who because when they asked people would just tell them Rachel is the one always next to Abbi or vice versa. I think this is my favorite scene just because it’s so fun and we have a pretty epic fight choreographed and I think it’s so fun to act out.
What is Oklahoma! about? Why should people come to see it?
Oklahoma is about two people who really like each other, but won’t admit it, so it’s them kinda going back and forth pretending that they don’t care about each other. I think it’s a great show to watch I love all of the music and dancing- it’s going to be great. It is such a fun and lighthearted show
What do you hope the audience will think about in the car as they drive home after this show?
I hope that they will think the show was fun and entertaining. I also hope that seeing this might inspire some kids to join theatre because it’s such a fun thing to be a part of. Lastly, I hope that they appreciate all the hard work everyone put into the show and just how awesome everyone in the cast is.
Anything else you want to talk about?
You should really really come to the show it’s going to be great!
