Announcing Homestead High School’s 2018-2019 Theatre season!  This year we will bring you sword fights, underwater adventures, and aerial dance all exploring the theme of what it means to find yourself.  Pirates can happen to anyone, we do want to be part of your world and yes, sometimes you can have too much ambition…

Milwaukee playwright, Liz Shipe’s Bonny Anne Bonny

Anne Bonny was a real-life female pirate from the early 18th century who traveled with her friend Mary Reade around the Caribbean.

Anne having disguised herself as a man to serve under Captain Blackbeard is discovered with her husband Calico Jack.  Blackbeard feels betrayed, but Mary Reade saves the day by burning the ship and all of Blackbeard’s crew jumps ship.  Left on their own, the three friends head to port to find a new crew and a new ship.

The new crew is a tapestry of women: Anne’s longtime partner, Mary Reade; Lila, a dreamy adolescent and Magpie, and a feral sprite; an abused housewife, Posey and a mousy servant, Jenny; an aging barmaid, Sally and the woman she serves, Jane.

This new crew must face off against an unlikely trio. Blackbeard wants revenge, De Corazon wants his wife, Jane, back.  So the two pirates join forces with British Captain Pressley to bring down Anne Bonny and her crew.

Disney’s The Little Mermaid 

Mermaid princess Ariel is fascinated by the world and lives of people on dry land and longs to someday join them, though her father, King Triton forbids contact. When she falls in love with human Prince Eric from afar, she makes a deal with her father’s sister and enemy Ursula: she is temporarily transformed into a human and may remain so if she wins the kiss of true love from her prince within three days. The dangerous mission leads to a showdown between good and evil forces which only love can remedy. Will Ariel save the day or will she forever become sea foam?

This Disney Theatrical-produced musical is based on the 1989 Disney film and the 1837 fairytale penned by Hans Christian Andersen.

The ruined aftermath of a bloody civil war. Ruthlessly fighting to survive, the Macbeths are propelled towards the crown by forces of elemental darkness.

“SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES…”

Macbeth and Banquo, generals in the service of King Duncan of Scotland, are returning victorious from battle when they are hailed by three witches who predict that Macbeth will become Thane of Cawdor and then King of Scotland, whereas Banquo’s descendants will be kings.  A tale of deadly ambition and its consequences.
