Wait? Independent Study? Homestead has an Independent Study class?
It sure does and it’s perfect for any theatre kid!!
If you want to further your study in anything Theatre related an Independent Study is for you:
- Acting
- Make-up
- Costume Design
- Lighting Design
- Scenic Design
- Theatre History
- etc.
The list is endless when it comes to theatre. I’ve had One-Person shows, small productions, independent studies in Directing, in FX make-up, dance, costume design, both realized and paper research. I’ve had students take a semester to learn all about LED lights and our Black Box light board, or scenic design the musical Heathers. I’ve had students study Theatre Education and Theatre History… see? The possibilities are truly endless. You can do one alone, with a partner or with a group of kids!
So, what do you have to do to take an independent study? Your first step is to talk to Ms. Schlei, she’s our gifted and talented specialist and she runs Pursuit Lunches each week in the 200 wing. Still don’t know who she is? email her: rschlei@mtsd.k12.wi.us
After you get more information from her, come and talk to me about what you want to do. You will have to write an essay and create a project proposal to submit to Ms. Schlei and Mr. Bowers. This needs to be done by April 1st.
