Meet the Artist: Owen Gudex

Who are you?  What year are you?  What are your interests?

My name is Owen Gudex! I am a sophomore at Homestead High School! I love music, filmmaking, movies, and acting!

What exactly do you do for Alice in Wonderland?

I am an actor! I play The White King and The Eaglet!

What brought you to join the cast for Alice in Wonderland??

My love for acting has brought me to the cast of Alice in Wonderland. I also have a great relationship with many people in the theatre environment and I thought it would be really exciting to group up again with these people since the summer!

Do you have any stories from rehearsals?

It’s always fun acting as your character off-stage. We do that a lot and it can be so much fun!

Alice in Wonderland is about a fantastical land with many famous characters and Alice who ventures throughout.  How have you connected to the story?

I’ve connected with the story of Alice in Wonderland by falling into the world of Alice in Wonderland through how I act and my characters. It’s so much fun being a part of the story and knowing that you’re a part of it as well.

You are using a script that was created at Homestead in 2015, how have you changed it?  What have you added or taken away?

An old description of the White King that I read before auditions stated he is afraid of the Lion and the Unicorn. While I don’t know if that was the case or not in the 2015 production, I do know that he is not afraid of the Unicorn or the Lion in the 2022 production. That allowed me to experiment a lot more with a new version of the White King.

What’s one thing that is different in this play or rehearsal process than anything else we’ve done in the Homestead Theatre Department?

This is a tough question to answer but this is the very first show with our beloved class of 2026. This is a different rehearsal process because these awesome people are now at Homestead High School! Welcome freshman! You bring so much joy to the rehearsal process and I cannot wait to see you grow!
