My Experience in Homestead Theater

By – Sam Estiban

Hey! My name is Sam Estiban and I am a senior at Homestead High School. I have been doing shows at Homestead for 4 years and currently working on my last ever production at the school (Romeo and Juliet: Campsite Edition). These last 4 years have been some of the best years of my life. The mainstage shows I have been a part of at Homestead are; Big Fish (2020 Winter Musical), Little Women (2021 Winter Musical), As You Like It (2021 Fall Play), Cinderella (2022 Winter Musical), Secret in the Wings (2022 Spring Play), Alice in Wonderland (2022 Fall Play), Hello, Dolly! (2023 Winter Musical) and Antigone (2023 Spring Play). The ones I have been in that were not mainstage were; Holes (Acting 2 Junior year), Masha, Vanya, Sonia, and Spike (Theater Production Seminar Junior year) and Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead (One Act Senior year). I am so lucky to have been able to participate in shows all 4 years of high school and I will forever be grateful for the memories that I made with some of the best people I know.

These shows were literally the best part of high school for me. The moments I had in these shows are some of the best moments in my life and I will never forget all the memories I made. I always enjoy laughing during rehearsals and goofing off in the wings even though we were never supposed to be. All the Qdoba dinners, strikes, and cast parties are memories I will never forget. The process of creating the shows was so memorable and I am forever grateful that I got to make such amazing productions come to life with some of my best friends. Every fall play, every musical, and every spring play are shows I will never ever forget.

While I am sad that my acting career at Homestead has come to an end, I am so grateful for the memories I made and the friendships I created!
