Monday after school my break ended, I no longer could go home at 4pm. Me being able to do this was rare to begin with, but nonetheless I liked that two week break where I could pretend to have a life outside the theatre. Then Monday happened, and my life became consumed by theatre, music and dance again. I hadn’t realized I’d missed it so much. Monday the cast of our musical Brigadoon gathered in the black box for the read through of the script. Laughter once again filled the halls of the 700 wing until 6pm, over 45 high school students bonded for their first rehearsal.
Tuesday rolled around and I got to work with all the girls in the cast. Let me tell you, there are a lot of girls in this cast. For two hours we danced and finished one dance, only to start another. Let me tell you, I was impressed with a lot of the ladies who are not dancers, but move very well.
Ribbons, hankies, table clothes, and aprons danced around the room as the ladies sang about packing up Jeanie for her wedding day, “Jeanie’s packing up, Jeanie’s moving out.”
To say I’m excited might be an understatement!
