Hi, it’s Zack Zens and Morgan Klug we are both juniors at Homestead, and we have partnered with Drama Club to organize a fundraiser for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Students of the Year Campaign. The Students of the Year Campaign focuses on exhibiting student leadership within the realm of charity, spurring network orientation and providing community involvement.
During all four intermissions, we will have a ‘Miracle Minute’ in which all proceeds go to LLS. This event allows the cast and audience to be involved in a fundraising campaign during the show. As intermission begins, the HHS 4 LLS team will take to the stage with some cast members; afterward, the team will introduce the event and start the one-minute fundraising period. Team members, volunteers, and cast members will run up and down sections collecting donations.
LLS gives us a unique platform to honor and support child survivors and their families. Specifically, we have had the distinct privilege in meeting our campaign hero, eight-year-old survivor Isaiah who is now in remission from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. While LLS drives the majority of its focus on research for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, the pioneering breakthroughs that LLS has helped to make, continues to allow strides towards a cure on a variety of other cancers and diseases.
We have been astounded by the support we have garnered in the very little time the campaign has been in action, and we are fortunate to have such a tremendous community to support us.
We would like to thank the Theatre Department for giving us the opportunity to make such an impact and all of those who have and continue to fight for a cure. Please feel free to make a tax-deductible donation in our link below:
