Who are you? What year are you? What are your interests?
I am Addison Drumm, I am a freshman, and I love music, softball, the arts, and nature.
What exactly do you do for Alice in Wonderland?
I play the Queen of Hearts and Alice’s mother in Alice in Wonderland.
What brought you to join the cast for Alice in Wonderland??
I have always looked up to the big kids on Homestead’s stage and practically viewed them as gods. Anyhow, I felt absolutely terrified but excited to join them. I always am able to find this indescribable happiness with the people around me in shows and have never doubted my love for that. I can’t wait to see how I grow and the people I meet.
Do you have any stories from rehearsals, practices or crew sessions?
So far one of my favorite memories from rehearsal has been (sadly) when the Queen of England died. We ended up saluting while “God Save The Queen” played and t’was quite a way to start a rehearsal. I also loved the time I hung out with costumes since I wasn’t needed in rehearsal and got to see some quite obnoxious pieces on fellow actors (fishnets on Cayden, purple bodysuit on Nova, troll masks on Emma).
Alice in Wonderland is about a fantastical land with many famous characters and Alice who ventures throughout. How have you connected to the story?
I have always absolutely loved Alice in Wonderland. Even though I was slightly scared of the Disney movie as a kid, it has definitely grown on me over the years. I love the creativity of the story and the loose ends left for you to figure out how to tie.
You are using a script that was created at Homestead in 2015, how have you changed it? What have you added or taken away?
We have incorporated aerial dance and movements into this show that I do not believe the 2015 script included. A few actors rewrote the beginning and end of this show, wanting more coherence and connections with the characters outside of Wonderland and inside.
This is my first show with the Homestead Theatre Department and I am so excited about this show and future productions.
