Screen Shot 2019-11-26 at 9.43.24 AMAs a child, we all find our safe places. For many that was through friends, shopping, playing dolls, or playing video games. Yet somehow I was the lucky kid. I grew up with the safe place of a theatre through dance. Dance has been my everything throughout my life. It is what has brought me my greatest success happiness and sadness in life. But the safest I’ve ever felt is when I am on stage performing doing what I love the most. The theatre has shown how to express and showcase my differences and celebrate them and how it is okay to be loud and wild.

It’s okay the be me!

Not many people are lucky enough in life to be able to express themselves and be able to get out of their own skin. But the theatre has taught me to love me and my differences. What I love about the theatre is how it celebrates all walks of people. How amazing and special is that!!! The theatre changes people. I think it is very safe to say that the moment one walks into the theatre they do not walk out the same. When you experience what a theatre really is about you become transported to a new place! You get to become part of the story. It’s like watching a movie but only better. You get to feel, see, and examine what the character is going through. You get to watch and experience the play or musical from a different perspective. You can go to relieve the past, stay in the present, or invent the future. And you get to do this through song, acting, and dance!

Screen Shot 2019-11-26 at 9.44.18 AMThe theatre is a special place for special people. It is a place where people who enjoy the arts get to come together and celebrate the talent of many. You also get an amazing story about it too. The theatre is amazing! The theatre has affected me in so many ways. It has changed my life for the better as it has given me a place to feel safe and loved and not judged for. The theatre has given me my passion and showed me what I want to do with my life and how I want to spend it.  It is something that is incredibly reassuring, it’s a reminder that I can be up there and be considered a great.

But hey lets not get our hopes up yet there is a lot of work to do. The theatre has also shown me how hard work can get you places you would never have expected you could go. The theatre teaches how hard work discipline and with resilience, you can become whatever you want! The theatre is a place to celebrate and that is what has changed my life. Celebrating our differences is something that is so incredibly powerful!
